Team Work/Leadership
The MPA program challenges students to work cooperatively and achieve results via groups and teams. Working in groups throughout the program in a variety of settings exposed me to a diversity of work styles and personalities. It has also enhanced my leadership skills, enhancing my ability to motivate people towards a common goal.
Over all, I feel I am more comfortable working towards goals as a team and more confident in my leadership capabilities.
Although I have always enjoyed working in a collaborative environment, I now have a greater appreciation for the different perspectives and diversity of ideas working with a team of people brings to a project. I worked successfully with a team of students to create a funding proposal for the MPA public policy course, and created a memo on employee motivation for the Water Planning Division of Santa Clara County.
