Join the Velvet Revolution!
I encourage students and teachers to join in the Velvet Revolution:
Student Showcase (and open mic) every Tuesday at 5 in the Poetry
Center. We've had eight wonderful events so far. I come away each
week with a strong feeling of community and a buzz of poetry.
Cheers,
Chad Sweeney.

Calls to Action
- Tell us your problems! The goal of the university is to help
all of us learn. Its reputation depends on our success. In order
to fulfill that purpose, the department needs to hear what you
need in order to put out your best work. Comments and suggestions
about the department should go to eir@ucla.edu.
- We plan on meeting regularly with the CW Department chair
to relay your concerns. A meeting with the Dean of Humanities
is planned for the end of the month. A list of demands is being
compiled as we hear your concerns.
- Hang out and read. The Poetry Center needs proctors
to keep the center open later. You'd be responsible for making
sure the books are safe, and upon leaving, that the room is
left clean and the door locked. To volunteer please contact
Thad Fowler.
- Party! Help is always needed arranging donations for parties
(advertising, purchasing party accoutrements). Please email
Nicole.
- Contact Famous Writers! We hope to stay in contact with our
alumni and benefit from their support. If you are a Creative
Writing department alumnus or know of any we can get in touch
with, please contact catmarie@sfsu.edu.
