Team Work/Leadership
"Coming together is a beginning.
Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success. " - Henry Ford
We do not live in a bubble and because of that we must learn to live, work and interact with all sorts of people. Team work is definitely a challenge; dealing with personalities, work ethic, capabilities, discipline and commitment. But there are great rewards as well because simply stated “more heads are better than one”. I had great experiences working in groups during my academic career and there are several group projects which I am very pleased with.
The first is a research paper we did on the influence board of directors over foundation activity. Research was difficult and attempting to uncover the influence of trustees on foundation payout's was even more difficult. To read our report Why do Boards Matter?: Board influence over foundation activity; to view the Power Point, Why do Boards Matter?
The second is a resource development project that we did for an organization serving women who are interested in starting their own business. The organization is called Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment (WISE). We specifically were looking at how they could increase Spanish speaking mentors in their Get Connected program with the hope of developing a relationship that would lead to monetary support for the organization. For our report and our recommendation to WISE.
