Wind Energy
Generators
| ~~~Wind power produces energy that is clean, renewable, good for the air and good for the planet. In the United States, almost 95% of energy is produced by burning fossil fuels, this contributes to urban smog, regional haze, acid rain and snow, climate change and respiratory illnesses. In contrast to fossil fuel based energy, wind power produces no air pollution; it does not deplete precious natural resources; no land is strip-mined to extract it; no ocean territory is drilled in its pursuit, it does not harm the atmosphere or threaten the earth?climate. Buying 100-kilowatt hours of wind power each month for a year would save 1,200 pounds of coal and 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, out of the air. According to the Environmental Protection Agency that is equivalent to planting a half-acre of trees. Using wind power reduces smog, acid rain and air pollution.~~~ |
