Parts Needed: 70 mAh 4.5 volt solar cell
280 mAh 2.4 volt rechargeable battery
Radio Shack pocket radio
4 wires and electrical tape
Assembly: All steps are illustrated in the solar radio pictures
Step #1
We disassembled the radio to understand how it worked.
Step #2
We took a closer look at the battery connection to see how to convert it to the rechargeable battery.
Step #3
We attached the rechargeable battery to the solar cell with solder .
Step #4
We soldered the wires to the negative and positive charges onto the battery and then onto the radio.
Step #5
After the wires were connected from the solar cell to the battery, we rapped electrical tape around the rechargeable battery and placed it in the battery compartment.
Step #6
Once all the soldering was complete and all the connection had been made, we attached the solar cell to the back of the radio and our transformation was complete.
