Personal Statement

Baby picMy career has been dedicated to work in the field of public health. For close to a decade, I have worked as a direct service provider for victims of domestic violence, sexual trauma, those who were homeless, abused substances, and suffered from mental illness. As time passed, I began to realize that I wanted to help my community by working on the administrative side. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Now, I will be completing my Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Management.

After ten years as a direct service provider and years of non-profit management experience, I bring a wide range of experience to any organization I may join in the future. I consider myself to be both innovative and flexible. This, in part, is due to my five years at a tiny agency that grew into a multi-million dollar organization by my departure in December 2003. Through my hard work and determination, I worked my way up to a position as the Program Manager. Over time, I realized I needed more skills and more training to go forward in my career. This spurred my desire for the additional educational experience in public management.
