SESSION #1: Continued

Computers can fail at anytime, any place anywhere.
NOTE: save every five minutes (Ctrl + S or +S)

    1. PC press CTRL + ALT + DEL
      MAC press ALT+ APPLE + ESC

    2. Follow the directions on screen to unfreeze computer.

What if the above does not unfreeze the computer?

  1. If your computer is still frozen, Shut it down.
  2. Hold the power button for 5 seconds it will automatically shut down.
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes turn the computer back on

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

Howard Gardner - Theory of Multiple Intelligence

Gardner believed that there were nine types of intelligence:

1. Linguistic Verbal skills, related to sound, meanings and rhythms
2. Logical
Mathematical intelligence conceptual and logical thinking skills
3. Musical Talents and abilities related to sound, rhythm, and pitch
4. Spatial Thinking in pictures and visioning abstractly
5. Body- Kinesthetic Skill in controlling body movements
6. Intrapersonal
High-degree of self-awareness and insight
7. Interpersonal
Ability to understand other people and using this skill to achieve your goal
8. Naturalist
The ability to classify and distinguish between members of a species. (hunting, preserve endanger species or ecosystems) respects the environment.
9. Existential Intelligence
Sensitive. Has questions pertaining to life, humanity and death.

The Word Processor is the most popular program used in education.

Students can use the word processor to:

  1. Create a Newsletter for parents or class. Students can get into groups of 3 or 4 and write about happening in and outside the classroom.
  2. Summarize a magazine or newspaper article. Students read an article and summarize it by creating their own article or flyer (using images from the internet or microsoft.com) from the readings.
