KIN 766    Sociology of Exercise and Skill     

Course Description

This seminar examines the socio-cultural issues underlying participation in exercise and physical activity. Social views of exercise, skill, and physical activity will be examined from the perspectives of race, gender, social class, and the media. Implications for practitioners in the fields of health care and fitness will also be considered.

Prerequisites: 

graduate or upper division standing and consent of instructor.
