STARTALK Chinese Teacher Institute is a federal funded, two-week intensive summer program designed to prepare teachers of Chinese to develop and implement research-based curriculum and instruction with focuses on:

  • Second language acquisition
  • Chinese children’s literature
  • Comics and story-telling in L2
  • L2 literacy development in Chinese
  • Chinese language curriculum and material design and development

Participants will meet and learn from renowned national and international experts, have the opportunity to develop curriculum and lesson plans from the knowledge learned, and apply them in the teaching practicum.

Participant:  The Institute is open to current K-12 teachers of Mandarin Chinese in any teaching institution.

Venue:  San Francisco State University.
