Tutoring Policy

Policy

SSS requires students to attend weekly tutoring sessions for Segment I, pre-Segment I courses and U.S. History and Government courses. These meetings are mandatory and are required in order for a student to remain in good standing with the program. The following are the guidelines:

¤ If you cannot make your tutoring session, please the office at (415) 338-2312 or *82312 from the SFSU campus.

¤ If you have missed a tutoring session, you must make it up with your tutor as soon as possible.

¤ Bring all pertinent material to your tutoring session: books, notes, study material.

¤ If you wish to be exempted from tutoring, please talk to your advisor.

A probationary status will be invoked if the above guidelines are not met. If another absence occurs after THREE excused or TWO unexcused absences (depending on how many mandatory tutoring hours a student has) within tutoring session, the student will be notified of a warning by e-mail of the incurring his/her probationary status. In the event of a FOURTH absence, whether excused or unexcused, the student will be required to meet with SSS staff to discuss status with the program. If an absence from either tutoring session or workshop continues following the student and staff meeting, a student is grounds for dismissal from the program.

Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education at $221,454 a year.
