(What Do You Think about That?)
Prerequisite: Russian 104 or consent of instructor.
Course Objectives: This course is designed to help students develop a greater ease with the spoken language on the intermediate level.
Methods: Students will work weekly with exercises with the video and in the text, prepare dialogs at home and participate in small group workshops and presentations in the classroom. Regular attendance and classroom participation are essential for students to pass this course.
Assessment: Students will be evaluated and graded on class participation, quizzes, formal and informal oral presentations.
Student Outcomes: Successful completion of this course should result in students being able to speak on the intermediate level. This course should also enhance oral comprehension.
Language Lab: Students are encouraged to use the Lab (both the computer side and the audio side) to work on their writing, reading and oral comprehension skills. However, video work can be done at home.
Note: Please feel free to raise any concerns that you may have concerning my expectations either in class or during my office hours. I want to do everything possible to make this class productive and as comfortable as possibly for all participants. I welcome suggestions from students.
Survival tips: Do not put off homework to the last minute. Since much of the work will be done in small groups or with a partner, it is essential that you exchange phone numbers with several students in the class. I would also strongly suggest that you get an e-mail account which will facilitate your work with other members in the group. E-mail accounts are available free of charge from the administration (ADM 110).
