Project SHINE |
Project SHINE is a service-learning initiative that builds partnerships
among community colleges, universities and community-based organizations to
benefit immigrants, refugees, ESL teachers and college students.
Students at SFSU and CCSF assist with classes that help immigrants
with learning English and the civics required for U.S. Citizenship.

woman I had worked with for several weeks passed her test, and that was
very exciting. She and her husband were the neatest couple, and the
look of pride on his face when he told me she passed was priceless. I
also had the opportunity to test someone who had a rapidly approaching
