About Us

SWE is an organization that stands for Society of Women Engineers. This non-profit organization was developed in the 1950's as a resource for aspiring women engineers and professionals. One of it's main goals was to diversify the members of the engineering field by becoming a source of support and encouragment, namely, for women. However, the organization is open to both males and females that support it's mission.

Not long ago, SWE activity and membership at SFSU declined due to graduating officers and a lack of student involvement within the society. Nonetheless, the organization has strived to keep on going and to continue growing. With your valued input and active support, we hope to re-establish the activity that was once so vibrant within this society at San Francisco State University.
