Intel's doing its darnedest to thwart AMD by flooding the market with every possible processor configuration it can think of. At the low end is now the Pentium E series which is Conroe based but sans VT, Viiv, and vPro.

Contextual Speller can fix "Microsoft Exchange Sever 2007"

Look at the title above. Do you see a problem? Sever should be spelled "Server".
Recently, Microsoft issued a press release with that exact spelling mistake and later had to issue a correction. Too bad they weren't using Office 2007. If they had the new contextual speller would have caught the mistake for them. That's pretty cool.

Now the important thing to keep in mind is that this feature is not enabled by default on machines with less that 1GB of RAM.

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 download

Continuing it's banner month of product releases Microsoft posted Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 for download. If you're an SBS2003 user you'll need to run this along side WSS 2.0.

If you're not familiar with WSS you can read the Overview.

On the other hand, if your already a SharePoint user, you may be interested in some of the key improvements to Windows SharePoint Services in Version 3.0 which include:

Improvements to collaboration workspaces: SharePoint sites now offer e-mail and directory integration, alerts, RSS publishing, templates for building blogs (also known as weblogs) and wikis (Web sites that can be quickly edited by team members—no special technical knowledge required), event and task tracking, improved usability, enhanced site navigation, and more.

Enhancements to content storage: SharePoint lists and libraries now provide per-item security for better data control and integrity, a recycle bin, and enhanced flexibility for storing more types of content. Row and column capacity has also been increased, as has retrieval speed. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 can be easily integrated with smart client tools. In particular, close integration with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 provides offline access to events, contacts, discussions, tasks, and documents.

Easier provisioning of workspaces: Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 provides more sophisticated and flexible security, as well as greater control over security settings and permissions.

A more robust foundation for Web applications: Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 provides greater flexibility for customization and development of Web-based services and applications built on the Windows SharePoint Services platform.

Nun Dies Of Respiratory Disease After Serving At Ground Zero

The death of Sister Cindy Mahoney was something I learned about on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos". Her loss is great and for all the TV I watch and websites I visit I wonder why this wasn't a leading story.

Prior to her death she requested that her autopsy results be included in a class action lawsuit filed by those who have developed illnesses subsequent to working in the rubble of the World Trade Center. Just like Gulf War syndrome, these problems are difficult enough to pin down scientifically and thus politics have consumed the issue, smothering any chance for victims to get the timely help they need. The VA, for example, unable to sum up GWS in a simple, tidy package, has concluded that it doesn't exist at all. Let's hope Sister Mahoney's contribution results in a miracle for her fellow first responders.
