We'll have the first midterm on Thursday, October 1, during the entire class period. There will be 5 problems in the test covering material in chapters 1 and 2. We'll review problems for the midterm on September 29. Note that this is an open textbook/notes examination.
Review problems: pp.64-65, # 40 - 66; pp.77-79, # 1 - 24; p.123, # 23 - 28; pp.140-141, # 55 - 62, 71 - 90; pp.152-154, # 33 - 60. Review problems also include problems from the homework assignments.
Midterm #1 with Solutions
We'll have the 2nd midterm on Thursday, November 5. There will be 5 problems in the test covering material in chapters 3 and 4. Review problems: pp.265-266, # 17-32, 55-70; pp.277-278, # 9-22; pp.304-305, # 21-68; pp.316-317, # 1-44; pp.327-328, # 1-4, 7-20, 25-30, 37-80; p.339, # 1-16. The problems will be reviewed on November 3.
Guidelines for midterms and the final examinations:
We will have a PRACTICE TEST on Chapter 5 on December 8.
The list of review problems for the final exam includes all review problems for the two midterms. Additional problems: pp.361-362, # 13 - 24; pp.370-372, # 1 - 7, 11 - 22, 28 - 40; p.386, # 33 - 42, pp.397 - 398, # 9 - 24. The problems will be reviewed on December 10.
