2010-2011
Vice President
Alicia Connor
Everything about food interests me,
from how things are grown and where they came from to how different
cultures prepare their food. Before deciding to get a degree in
nutrition, I worked in the restaurant industry as a Chef and Cook. To
gain experience in the hospital environment I have been volunteering at
a couple of hospitals in San Francisco. I have loved my almost 2 years
of volunteer work at the VA Medical Center and 6 months at UCSF Medical
Center. I will be graduating May 2012 with the hope of one day working
as a community Dietitian.
For fun I like to run, bike, and find ways to be inspired by food like
going to the farmer’s market.
Succeeding: Alexandra Hickey for 2010-2011

Hi! My name is Olivia and I am excited to be your SDA Secretary and
Treasurer for the 2011-2012 school year!
I am a proud dietetic student who loves cooking, baking, yoga, running,
animals, and being a nanny as my part-time job. I embrace my
passion for nutrition by contributing to various health related
programs in the Bay Area. On campus, I participate as a peer nutrition
educator and I volunteer in the Dietary Department at the Alta Bates
Medical Center in the East Bay. I am honored to
have the opportunity to be apart of such an amazing organization and I
look forward to the year ahead of us!

Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator
Sonia Malhotra
My name is Sonia Malhotra, and I am graduating senior majoring in
dietetics. I value the time and people that I get to work with on
campus and off. On campus, I am a PEACH volunteering in the PNAC clinic
along with having clinical emphasis at the Veterans Medical Center as
nutrition volunteer, and being a nutrition assistant at Mills Peninsula
Hospital. The Healthy Lifestyle at SF General has helped me focus my
goals into pursuing a clinical practice in child and maternal nutrition.
With my free time, I like to relax and watch movies, cook, clean (odd I
know) and catch up on my favorite show, BONES!

Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. My goal upon graduation is to

Activities Coordinator
Nicki Noury
Intro:
Hi, my name is Nicki Noury and I am the new Activities Coordinator for
the Fall 2011-Spring 2012 semesters. As a dedicated
dietetic senior and proud PEACH for a third semester now, I have
developed the skills and passion needed for planning a great year for
all my fellow SDA members and anyone interested in health and
nutrition.
A Little Background Info:
In a nut shell, I am a nut! However as a senior in the Dietetic
Program at SF State, can you blame me? If you asked any of my
friends or my dog what kind of person I am they would say hardworking,
compassionate and a go getter. Also that I’m funny and a
kick awesome dancer!
Some Three’s:
Foods that I get Giddy Over: chocolate, dark chocolate, in season fresh
fruit
Day off Activities: morning gym session, browsing for recipes, playing
pin ball
Thoughts on the SDA: valuable information, fun health- friendly
activities, great people/friends
Down the road:
On top of being a graduate of SF State with a BS in Dietetics, I want
be either going into a master’s program in nutrition, public
health or nursing school. Honestly I really haven’t found
my nitch yet, so I’m going to prepare for several options.
Being involved in programs like the SDA and the Peach program are
therefore invaluable to a person like me, who is still in that grey
area of knowing and not knowing what do for a career.
Fortunately, I go to SF State and every corner I turn I find guidance,
inspiration and encouragement to pursue whatever path in life I end up
going down.
Succeeding: Jasmine Vassar 2010-2011
BADA Representative
Maya Schafer
My name is Maya Schäfer and I am a Dietetics
senior with a Holistic Health certificate and will be graduating in the
spring of 2012. For the past three years I have been involved in , Peer
Educators Advocating Campus Health (P.E.A.C.H) . Working as a
P.E.A.C.H involves counseling students one on one and
guiding them to making health choices about eating and exercise.
I am also involved in the Community Garden Project. The Community
Garden Project was restarted to give students a place to grow fruits
and vegetables and learn about gardening. I have also volunteered
at the Veterans Hospital in San Francisco as well as taught a
nutrition class to young children through a group called Cooking
Matters. In addition to this I also cater all over the Bay. Through
catering I am able to taste, cook and serve a variety of different
foods, ranging from simple salads to caviar and quail eggs. I look
forward to graduating and working in the community to make healthy food
a right to everyone, not just a privilege for a few.
