Professional Skills

The MPA program teaches students practical, professional skills that are easily applicable in the real world. From budgeting, finance and human resource management to organizational behavior and policy analysis, students learn about the issues in public administration and the tools and methods to resolve them. Coursework is frequently addressed to decision makers in an organization, thereby acclimating students to making practical, cogent and thorough recommendations. Here is a strategic assessment memorandum that I addressed to Robert Chapman, who headed the task force for President Clinton's 1993 initiative, the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV). Who knew that in 2008, the PNGV's message would come back to haunt the Big Three?
