Personal Statement

I was raised
in Moroleon, GTO,
During my undergraduate years at SFSU, I was a double major in Criminal Justice and Political Science, while becoming a proud member of the Pi Sigma Alpha and Alpha Phi Sigma honor societies. During my coursework in both subjects, I become interested in policy and governmental issues specifically in the areas of Homelessness, Land-use Development, Economic Development and general redevelopment.
My curiosity for educational advancement resulted in one of the greatest contextual conversation I have ever had with one of my professors. I was speaking with Professor Corey Cook, who began by simply asking me what I wanted to do in local government. He questioned me about my interests, my knowledge and about my expectations. After our conversation, I understood that a Master’s degree was necessary to pursue my goal of becoming a city manager. After this conversation I began to pursue my MPA in Urban Administration to prepare myself towards my goal. In my chosen field, I hope to be an instrument in redevelopment and growth of a city, expand economic opportunity and increase access to services for those most in need. I graduate from this program feeling accomplished, energized and anxious to begin my journey in Urban Administration.
