A few thoughts on HIV/AIDS

I hate this disease. I know folks that are positive, but it wasn't until this year that I actually had to tell someone they were positive.

As an HIV test counselor my work centers around administering the test and giving clients their results. I do this line of work because I like talking to men going thorugh this crisis and listening to them tell me what they are going through in their lives. I see men from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and life situations. I enjoy hearing what they have to say and I like being their for them if they are having concerns or questions. But, I really hate telling my clients they are infected.

So what I'm trying to say is please be safe. I know its not always easy. But no one is invincible. And know that your life is precious. Don't play with your life.

HIV/AIDS is not a death sentence. People keep living their lives. with it. Regardless of that, infection will change your life. Don't get infected.
