   ALL COLLEGE GPA         SFSU GPA

2.84                                                                                       2.41

The 2.41  =   202.8 / 84.0      or     GP / UA

Or GPA equals grade points earned divided by units attempted

In fall the four courses taken yielded a GPA of    25.2 / 12  = 2.10
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If in spring 2006 you earn an A and B in two 3unit courses:

Units attempted increases by 6 units

Grade points increase by (4 x 3) + (3 x 3) = 21

Your semester GPA will be   21 / 6  =  3.50

And your SFSU GPA would be

84 +6 = 90 units attempted

202.8 + 21 = 223.8

            223.8 / 90  =  2.49       an increase from  2.41

Grade Points come from multiplying the semester units of the course times the number corresponding to the grade earened:
Grade earned        A  =  4
                              A- =  3.7
                              B+ =  3.3
                              B   =  3
                              B-  =  2.7
               this pattern continues down to
                               D-  =  0.7
                               F   =    0
