Evolution and Ecology of Arctostaphylos (Ericaceae)

Arctostaphylos has more species than any other woody genus in California. Species are principal components of maritime, interior and montane chaparral, forest edge, woodland and dune systems. Studies have focussed on seed bank dynamics, fire ecology and management, evolution and evolutionary ecology. Collaborators include Mike Vasey (SFSU) and Jon Keeley (USGS).
