Team Work/Leadership
“No man is an island,
entire of itself” John Donne
Public policy making and
implementation cannot be effective without addressing
the need of society-wide coordination and required
teamwork. My experience in MPA program was an eye-opener
in that I learnt how to appreciate the merits of
teamwork and effective leadership in a good teamwork
environment. Economic welfare is tightly linked to a
well-functioning infrastructure between governmental,
nongovernmental institutions and non- and for-profit
organizations. This understanding was the capstone of my
studies in program and along this vision, a heavy
emphasis on teamwork and developing leadership skills
were vital parts of classroom experience.
My self-awareness and
maturity have flourished as I listened, collaborated and
influenced my teammates while exploring our prospects.
Naturally, this interaction was a two-way process, in
which I acquired new perspectives, while I contribute to
cultivate new viewpoints for my classmates. Thanks to
this rewarding experience, I broadened my appreciation
for the diversity of ideas in teamwork context and how
to capitalize on these diverse ideas as an effective
public policy leader.
