Knowledge of Public Administration
The unparallel depth and
variety of my courses enabled me not only to gain
far-reaching theoretical knowledge and understanding of
public and nonprofit organizations but also to
experience significant practical matters in designing,
managing and improving organizational policies. The
curriculum maintained a well-balanced structure to
provide thorough insights about the policy making tools
and underlying theories along the tasks and challenges
of effective public administration. The first year of my studies
focused on building core skills vital to any effective
public policy leader. This foundation covered a wide
array of courses from microeconomics, and budgeting
expertise to human resources management and research
methods. I was surprised yet very pleased to witness the
heavy emphasis of the program on teaching quantitative
tools necessary to measure and enhance public policy
effectiveness.
In my second year, I tailored my studies by taking elective classes in nonprofit administration. I believe that nonprofit organizations are the main catalysts to eliminate economic and social shortcomings in any society so my emphasis centered on broadening my perspective how to manage nonprofits more strategically and to maximize societal resources devoted to nonprofits by taking classes such as “strategic nonprofit management” and “developing nonprofit resources”. The in-depth knowledge I acquired through these courses provided me the necessary steps for my personal epiphany in effective nonprofit administration and public administration.
