Let me give you a hand with that.
Project Overview
Welcome to life cast sculpting. You will be guided in making a bas-relief sculpture of a hand. Bas-relief is traditionally on the shallow side so you won't be able to see your full hand.
Getting a mold of your full hand is possible but this will take a sense of ingenuity and challenge you to create and experiment. What you will be able to make by following the instructions is a bas-relief sculpture of a person's hand.
Understand that there are as many variations possible for
a life cast as there are body parts and people. The challenge is for you
and your group to come up with a theme for your work.
Ways to Share with other Artists
After you have made a sculpture you can add new instructions you come up with to WikiHow How to Make a Life Cast Sculpture.
In addition you can view and add photos of final sculptures at the Flickr Life Cast Sculpture Group
How to use these Instructions
Listed on the left in brown you will find
step by step instructions describing how to make a relief sculpture
of your hand. Instructions are listed in order
Box Layout, Cutting and Scoring, Cutting Corners, Mold making, Casting and Chasing.
The Gallery is a place to showcase finished work
and share any new discoveries you have made.
Across the top of every page in a tan stripe you will find tools
to help you when you begin making your work.
The first choice is PDF Instructions. This will allow you to print
full
instructions, tips, safety hints and measurements.
Secondly, you will find Measurements which will give your group
the ability to weigh and measure proportions for
the variations you create.
Lastly, what good would life be if there were not
Resources for you to further your curiosity and support your process? This will provide needed links for Flikr, How to Wiki, Sculpture suppliers and more.
At the bottom of every page you will find a button
that will take you to your next step.
