Professional Skills
"We cannot
seek or attain health, wealth, learning, justice or
kindness in general. Action is always specific,
concrete, individualized, and unique."
– Benjamin
Jowett

The SFSU MPA curriculum provides
students a plethora of valuable skills required to
succeed in the fields of public and nonprofit
administration. By marrying theory and practice,
students learn to practically apply these skills through
coursework as well as project work out in the field.
Throughout the program, I have been asked to demonstrate
course knowledge by conducting research as well as
consulting with local nonprofits. I have developed
critical skills in the areas of budgeting, strategic
planning, non-profit business management, fund
development, policy analysis, research methods/analysis,
personal reflection and teamwork.

on adolescent health and knowledge I designed and
carried out over the course of two semesters.
