• visit site Short Review by Lisa Husby By Faith Wilding www-art.cfa.cmu.edu/www-wilding/wherefem.html In this essay, Faith Wilding reflects on and dissects "cyberfeminism" after attending the First Cyberfeminist International in Kassel, Germany which was held in September of 1997. She looks at the attempts to define cyberfeminism and the arguments against defining the term. Wilding is most concerned with how to actively engage cyberfeminist politics, as she understands it, on the Internet. Wilding asserts that: "the reasons given by those who refused to define "cyberfeminism "óindicate a profound ambivalance in many wired womenís relationship to what they perceive to be a monumental past feminist history, theory and practice." Wilding goes on to describe what she sees as: "three main manifestaions of this ambivalence and their relevance to contemporary conditions facing women immersed in technology". 1) Repudiation of "old-style" (1970s) feminism 2) Cybergrrl-ism 3) Net utopianism
