Personal Statement
Welcome to my Public Administration ePortfolio website. As a graduate of the San Francisco State University Master of Public Administration program, I have gained a great amount of knowledge and skills in core public administration. The most important skills that I learned from the program was from my emphasis - policy analysis and program evaluation. The one thing that I really liked about the SFSU MPA program was that the professors explained the theory behind each subject area and gave us multiple exercises to help us put what we learned in practice. The professors' teaching methods enabled me to understand and apply public administration knowledge and skills in my current position.
My ultimate goal is to pursue a career in policy analysis and/or program evaluation. There are many implemented policies and programs that are not thoroughly analyzed. I feel that it is a duty to inform the public about the policies and programs that will fiscally, ethically, socially and politically change their lives. In addition, there are many programs that continue to function without an evaluation performed. While many programs have noble missions and goals, they may not be administered or managed effectively and/or efficiently. With the policy analysis and program evaluation knowledge gained from the MPA program, I feel that I could become a great contributor to any organization in the public and nonprofit sector.
This ePortfolio shows my Public Administration accomplishments in five different sections: 1) Knowledge of Public Administration, 2) Professional Skills, 3) Writing Skills, and 4) Presentation Skills. Please take the time to review each section as they have plenty examples of my work. Each paper, presentation or workbook displays a specific knowledge in the Public Administration field. Also, please review my resume for my work experience as I have about eight years of experience in the public and nonprofit sector.
