Knowledge of Public Administration
Public administrators are responsible to carry out
the publics’ interest by developing and implementing
policies. Also, these skilled professionals use their
analytical skills to assist public decision-making to
address public problems. The MPA program has prepared me
to effectively address issues that affect underserved
populations. I have gained an in-depth knowledge
on a wide variety of policy issues through my MPA
courses. The courses that I took in the program
helped me better understand how the public and
nonprofit sector operate. These courses include
microeconomics, public policy, budgeting, human
resources, organizational behavior, and research and
methods. I also took courses on public health, women’s
studies, program evaluation, and policy analysis as part
of my policy making and analysis emphasis. The
courses in the MPA program have provided me with real,
practical experience to solve public problems,
which will help further my career in public service.
