Knowledge of Public Administration

“It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped.  Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.”

My master’s coursework has provided me a solid understanding of influential perspectives in the field of public administration.  I have gained an understanding about how the field has developed and been influenced by various leaders, events, and social movements.  Two of the most insightful projects about the field of public administration were two interviews I conducted with Director Ruth Coleman of the California Parks and Recreation Department and Human Resources Manager Barb Forde from the San Francisco Food Bank.  The opportunities to learn about these two leaders and their insights on public administration were definitely highlights in my MPA academic career.  In addition, I have posted an examination of a book written by Julian Le Grand on the importance motivation and agency on policy implementation and outcomes.
