The San Francisco State MPA program is intent on developing the full-range of skills necessary for working in the public or non-profit sectors. The ability to present one’s work to an audience is one such skill for which the program provides ample practice. The use of PowerPoint presentations which concurrently develop oral presentation skills is common in the program.
The program taught such ideas as the ideal length of PowerPoint presentations and words per slide, appropriate backgrounds and coloring, and effective presentation techniques. I also learned how to create graphs and charts directly in PowerPoint as seen in the budget presentation below.
Attached are two PowerPoint presentations which I completed for the program. The first is a hypothetical budget proposal for a local non-profit organization which includes the use of charts and other data, and the second is a group presentation completed for an organizational behavior class.
All materials addressed to public or non-profit agencies utilizing publicly accessible organizational data are for school assignments only and are not associated with the organization nor meant as usable advice except where specified.
