Equally important to thinking critically and presenting effectively is the ability to write clearly. Below are three writing samples drafted through the course of the MPA program.

21st Century Workforce Analysis - a paper summating the work of Donald Kettl, in “The Next Government of the United States: Challenges for Performance in the 21st Century.” The paper addresses Kettl’s five essential areas government must address in order to sharpen their competitive edge.

 

 

 

 

New Zealand National FlagE-Government in New Zealand – a paper addressing the organizational, technological, leadership and collaborative challenges of implementing a common information technology e-government platform for all public services in New Zealand.

 

New Orleans, Louisiana a short memo addressing the circumstances leading up the destruction that plagued “the big easy” following Hurricane Katrina.

 Working Across Boundaries

 

Working across Boundaries – a paper reviewing the Russell Linden’s text working Across Boundaries. More acutely, the paper focuses on the need to develop high levels of trust amongst actors in collaborative efforts. The paper and the text echo the sentiments of Jack Welch - “Trust happens when leaders are transparent, candid and keep their word. It is that simple.”
