Paenibacillus LMB265

I am currently an undergraduate student here at San Francisco State University working towards a Bachelors of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Currently my research project is to employ cutting edge molecular biology methods to investigate genes that may be involved in the swarming motility of the isolated strain Paenibacillus LMB265. This swarming motility leads to the formation of fractal patterns when grown on solid medium. The display of these highly regular patterns by billions of bacterial cells is ultimately a result of highly organized and cooperative behaviors.
