Head Start Banner

Lambda Sigma Gamma designated the Head Start Program as its national philanthropy on April 25, 1993. The Head Start program's mission is to improve the lives of low-income children by providing quality comprehensive child development services that are family focused, including education, health, nutrition and mental health. Their mission is accomplished by involving parents in the total operation and administration of the program and supporting the growth of children, families and staff through encouragement, nurturing, education and empowerment.

The sisters of Lambda Sigma Gamma participate with Head Start in a variety of ways - some volunteer to assist with classroom activities, transportation, upkeep and renovation of centers, playground supervision, and other similar tasks. Sisters and chapters have also assisted Head Start by donating goods and services to help local programs.

Each Chapter of Lambda Sigma Gamma dedicates itself to its own choice of local Philanthropy so
that the Sorority as a whole may contribute to many different people in need. Through the Philanthropy, Lambda Sigma Gamma hopes to install civic responsibility in all its members. Lambda Chapter participates and provides donations to the local EOC Headstart Programs in the Bay Area.
