The computers in the labs on campus all have adobe acrobat software, enabling you to make .pdf files easily from any program. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will explain how to make a .pdf file from a Word document you may already have created for a lesson plan. There are links to resources to learn how to make .pdfs from other software programs under the "Resources" tab above.

When you have finished editing and saving the Word document you would like to convert to .pdf format, chose File, Print from the drop down menus. Rather than selecting a printer, at the bottom of your dialogue box you will see a button marked "Save as PDF". Click this button. You will be prompted to save the file to your disk or hard drive, when you do so, change the file name to include the extension .pdf. If your file is called lesson.doc you will change it to lesson.pdf, then click save.

Find your file on the disk or hard drive where you saved it, click to open it and it will now open with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
