Team Work/Leadership
When asked what he valued most in a leader, the oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller said, “I will pay more for the ability to deal with other people than any other ability under the sun.” The ability to work with people (human skills) is oftentimes undervalued in the workplace. SFSU’s MPA program and my work experience have taught me how to work effectively in groups and teams to accomplish a task. I have a pleasant and easy-going disposition and consider myself a team player. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to collaborate with my colleagues. I am accustomed to working with challenging co-workers who are unmotivated, frustrated, and unskilled; however, as a leader I have learned how to make the best of a situation and leverage their strengths to create a positive and functional working environment.
