The PG & E Power Plant pictured above sits on the eastern edge of the Bayview Hunters Point, home to San Francisco's largest black community. It is one of hundreds of industrial companies whose operation is cause for concern among residents. In addition to the power plant the Bayview Hunters Point houses the city sewage plant, recycling plants, gravel manufacturers and the infamous Hunters Point Naval Shipyard polluted with heavy metals and radioactive waste.

     The San Francisco Community Journalism Project wants to engage Bayview Hunters Point residents, leaders and workers around these concerns for environmental justice.
