Mini Assignment A: Chat & Distance Education
This assignment asks you to participate in a distance education
event.
One class session will take place entirely via online conferencing. In
addition to participating in the content of the discussion, you are
asked
to reflect on the process and implications of such events. Some
analysts
believe most education and work in the future will take place in
similar
online contexts. In the future real time video and sound may enhance
the
experience
We will focus on two topics:
- What are the benefits and costs of social interaction via online
in
comparison
with face-to-face?
- What has been your personal experience of this course's
elimination of
paper? (that is, all assignments, class communications, etc being
placed
only on the Web)
Technical Details
-Everyone should sign on remotely. You can do it from home if you
have
access. Otherwise, do it from a lab on campus. The event will start at
9:30. If you are in a lab on campus, please do not talk to others in
the
same lab in order to simulate the isolation of remote sign on.
