Riding California

California is possibly the most naturally beautiful place in North America, however there are a lot of problems with taking a sight seeing day trip if you are planning to drive on the overutilized, undermaintained freeway system. The solution to this dillemma is to buy a motorcycle and take it to the back roads. Besides being affordable and fuel efficient the motorcycle lets you cut through any kind of traffic to get where you're going.

Highway One between San Francisco and Monterey is a Great Place to start riding. It's scenic, easy going, but will offer a decent amount of challenges to beginner riders as well as various highways and back roads that can be explored throughout the area. Bring a map.

Highway One flattening out before the mountains. This is a great place to go really fast or just stare off at the view. However watch out for CHP or Local Smoke. Good thing it's flat and there's nowhere for them to hide

If you're looking for something that's more challenging this stretch of Highway One near Pacifica should do it. Devil's slide is a beautiful place on a sunny day and a disaster waiting to happen when it's wet.

There are some stretches of the road that are racetrack smooth, built to challenge the rider and the machine.
