Our Logo
CURRENT LOGO
HSA's current logo was created in 2010 by Brian Griffith, a graduate student of modern European history at San Francisco State University. Brian created the logo with Adobe Illustrator CS3.
The inspiration behind the candle and the light bulb came from HSA's old logo, or crest (see below). HSA's motto is "May the past and the present illuminate each other". Thus, the candle — representing the past — is one in the same with the light bulb — representing the present.
The light of our collective knowledge flows directly from the combination of the past and the present. By studying the individuals and events in our collective past, the present is given context, structure, and ultimately meaning. HSA's goal is to create an environment within our student body that facilitates academic acheivement, intellectual growth, and, most importantly, a collective conversation regarding the eternal relevance of the past in our lives today.
