The Seventh Annual Symposium "Planning for our Future in The 21st Century, was held on March 13, 2001.  We appreciate distinguished hospitality industry leaders who participated as speakers at the Symposium.  Mr. Lawrence Chan, President and CEO of Park Lane Hotels, was the keynote speaker at noon.  Mr. Edward Perotti, President, Northern California Chapter of MPI and Sr. Director, Event Marketing, Virtual Boardwalk and Ms. Laurie Sharp, President of Sharp Events, as well as, Ms. Kristina Kosmides, General Manager at FAZ Restaurants were speakers during the morning sessions.  The afternoon panel members include representatives from the Fairmont Hotel, Joie de Vivre Hospitality, Houston's Restaurants, San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, Marriott Hotel, and the Renaissance Parc 55 Hotel.  There was a phenomenal turnout of students and industry representatives which added to the excitement during the Symposium.  The Career Fair was held at the same location as the Symposium.  The department had an overwhelming response from the hospitality industry to participate at the Career Fair.  Due to limitation, we were only able to take the first twenty companies that registered.  Our appreciation goes to all the companies that participated at the Career Fair.
