Health Education:  A Health Career Opportunity

The Department of Health Education at San Francisco State University has two major functions.

1) We provide professional preparation in health education.

2) We offer a variety of health content courses like sexuality, drugs, aging, health promotions, STDs, homelessness, and AIDS.

If you're looking for a major and a career, or if you simply want to expand your health knowledge or perhaps enhance another major, we're the ones to check out. We literally have something for everyone.

Our department is small compared to other University departments. We have a small faculty (8-10 members) and our classes generally don't exceed 40 (with a few exceptions).

As a faculty we believe that service to students is of primary importance. We also believe that providing interesting courses loaded with practical knowledge and skills is an absolute must. We think that people learn best by doing, so our classes involve lots of group discussions and assignments that get you out into the community. Active participation by students is continually encouraged.

Our degree offerings include a B.S. in Health Education, with a choice of concentrations in community health education, holistic health, or school health. The department also offers a M. S. in Public Health. And don't forget we also teach a variety of health content courses that we're sure you'll find valuable and interesting.
