HEAL Health Fair
HEAL proudly
presents our first Health Fair, which will take place on March 30,
2006 at the Malcolm X Plaza. The purpose of the event is to inform
students of the organizations and resources available to them at
SFSU and in the community. This fair is also a great opportunity
for health organizations to mingle and support each other in our
common goal to better our communities in health, living, and
education. During the event, organizations will distribute
brochures and other literary information, as well as make on-stage
announcements about themselves and the services they provide. The
event will take place, rain or shine! Save the date!
City Team
City Team is served
as a rehabilitation center for the homeless. City Team offers
computer skills and vital information to enable the rehabilitees to
obtain a stable work force while staying out of the drugs and
alcohol scene. It is also developed in educating their female
audience about breast cancer. However, on Saturdays, City Team has
a special event where volunteers are welcome to come and help with
serving hot lunches, sorting and handing out clothes, as well as
participating in foot care. On certain Saturdays, City Team will
have a medical team equipped with a doctor, nurse, and pharmacist to
care for those who requests for medical attention. When volunteers
are abundant, some will be asked to work alongside the medical team
and engage in performing intakes and informal medical assessments.
City Team is a wonderful place to get to know the personalities
behind the faces of those we see on streets. The volunteer
experience is of course very different, but it can also be very
rewarding. Previous volunteers have expressed the honorable
feelings of being highly appreciated and regarded. The people there
are one of the friendliest and most thankful people volunteers will
every meet. City Team is an absolute must have experience.
