What Courses Am I Required to Take to Participate in the FSMP?

All proteges are required to enroll in ISED 100 (fall) and 201 (spring) for 3 units of credit per class during their first year at the university. These courses are designed to help proteges gain first-hand knowledge and awareness of the university community, its resources, services, and structure. The courses help develop good study skills, such as time management, notetaking, and test taking, and emphasize critical reading, writing, and thinking skills development.

A protege's faculty mentor is determined by the ISED section in which the protege enrolls. Those FSMP proteges who have declared a major or are interested in a particular field of study are encouraged to enroll in an ISED 100/201 section taught by a professor from a discipline close to their proposed major or academic field of interest.

Proteges can either register for ISED 100/201 through touchtone telephone registration or "add" by simply showing up to class on the first day of instruction.
