The California Subject Exam for Teachers (CSET) may be your most efficient way to clear the subject matter requirements and does not require an appointment with us. Click here for a link to their Web site.
Before requesting an appointment for transcript evaluation, please be advised
No matter how wonderful your background and experience, if you wish to clear your Subject Matter Competency by transcript evaluation, you will need to have coursework that offers equivalents for all the courses on one of our state-approved programs for the Single Subject Matter in English.
SFSU offers seven approved programs. Click here for more information on them.
For students expecting to graduate after January of 2009 (those beginning college in Fall 2005 or after), the program is different. New requirements will be posted as soon as they are approved. Until then, make an appointment.
NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE OF THESE MAJORS PLUS EXTENSIVE COURSEWORK IN ENGLISH, PLEASE MAKE THE FOLLOWING DECISION BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPOINTMENT OR BEFORE PLANNING A TRIP TO SFSU FOR DROP-IN ADVISING.
