Note: all sources have to be listed in alphabetical order by author’s last name and in this order.
1) An Article in a Newspaper:
Author’s Last name, First name. “Title of Article.” Name of newspaper
Year of publication,
volume number (issue number): pages.
Example: Lohr, Steve. “Now Playing: Babes in Cyberspace.”
New York Times 3 Apr. 1998,
Late ed.: C1+.
2) An Article in a Magazine: Do not give the volume and issue numbers even if they are listed.
Author’s Last name, First name. “Title of Article.” Name of
magazine Year of publication.
Page number.
Example: Mehta, Pratap Bhanu. “Exploding Myths.” New Republic 6 June 1998: 17-19.
3) A Book by a Single Author:
Author’s Last name, First name. Title of book. City of publication:
Publisher. Year of
publication.
Example: Anderson, Benedict. Imagined Communities. London and New York: Verso, 1991.
4) A Book by Two or More Authors: Cite the author’s names in the same order as on the title page of the book.
First author’s Last name, First name, and Second author’s first and last
name. Title of
book. City of publication: Publisher. Year of publication.
Example: Eggins, Suzanne, and Diane Slade. Analysing Casual
Conversation. London:
Cassell, 1997.
5) Internet Source:
Author’s Last name, First name. “Title of Article.” Title of the database. Name of the editor. Date of the document or last revision. Name of organization sponsoring the site. Date when you accessed the source. URL address.
Example: Oakley, John. “The Achilles Painter.” The Persus
Project. ED. Gregory Crane.
