Course Objectives:

This course provides the student with the knowledge of the role of on line marketing and the tools a manager can use to make on line advertising, public relations, and sales and customer relations, effective for his or her company to create a competitive advantage. It compares the new interactive marketing methods with the traditional marketing approaches and examines how to view them strategically from a marketing perspective. It examines the customer decision model and discusses how to create the new interactive customer, how to track them, how to market to them, and how to hold their loyalty. It will cover basic concepts of HTML programming and how to use Netscape Navigator. It will examine the use of programs that create Web Sites. Exploring and analyzing current marketing methods on line to create a marketing plan to implement on line methods to give a company a competitive advantage. Exploring on the Web will be required either in a lab or with a personal computer. Both group and individual projects will be required.

   1. Take home Web Design Lab Assignment:

   visit sites, bring back graphic. Due next class.

   Lab at end of syllabus.


   2. Download plug ins by

   going to Dr. Lowe's web page. Download

   Fireworks at www.macromedia.com. It is a free

   30 day trial version.


   3. Important: Bring a scanned in photo of

   yourself in Photoshop on disk saved as a JPEG 

   file or a digital camera photo of yourself for the

   next class. The Assignment will be to create an

   animated gif for your individual home page

    using the photo.

   

   4. Sign up for online reading sources. Think about

   buying your text from www.Amazon.com.
