Writing Skills
Participating in the MPA program has helped me to refine my writing skills, which I had not used extensively for many years. I had written many business letters, which usually require a brief statement of facts and a request for action. I had also written news and feature articles, which require a different approach from the normal composition pattern, that is, the most important information must be included in the first paragraphs, and less important material regulated to the end of the article to facilitate editing for length. News and feature article writing also requires short, snappy sentences, so I had a lot to relearn.
