Question-

How are web-users connected to their community based web-site/profile? What kind of value do we place on the web space, along with collection of contacts accumulated through hours of work?

Statement-

Web users have pushed the popularity of community based web-sites, such as Myspace.com, Friendster.com, multi-player online games, dating web-sites etc. These sites posses a strong potential to bring web-users from different places all over the world to a community which they can socialize and share ideas. Saving time and resources seem to be the main benefits besides community connection. In light of this, I would like to consider some of the negative aspects of these web-based communities, along with looking at the mean or place that it may take place in a user's life

Problems-
  • Dealing with a large bombardment of promotion and advertising.

  • Hours wasted viewing information that may be irrelevant or false.

  • Users lie about themselves or create false altered-egos on the net.
