Heroes and Anti-Heroes in the Ancient World Wednesday, April 9th: Guilt, Sacrifice, and Art at the end of the Aeneid Dr. Julia Nelson-Hawkins Ohio State University HUM 587, 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 16th: The Ugly Philosopher: Socrates as Anti-Hero Dr. Tom Hawkins Ohio State University HUM 587, 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 23rd: Heracles Triumphant and Transcendent Dr. John Rundin University of California, Davis HUM 587, 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 30th: Heroism in Sophokles' Philoktetes Dr. Seth Schein University of California, Davis HUM 587, 7:00 pm Lectures are held from 7:00-8:00 pm, in room 587 of the Humanities Building (HUM) on the SFSU campus unless otherwise noted. Each lecture is followed by a reception in the Pyramid Room, HUM 587, from 8:00-9:00 pm. These events are offered free of charge by the Classics Students Association. We apologize for the change in dates, due to a scheduling issue, for the first lecture. Originally April 2nd, the lecture series will begin the following week, Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00 pm. Classics Students Association Book Sale
We plan to hold our annual book sale during the week of February 11-15, 2008, so mark your calendars. We will be selling books in the lobby of the Humanities building every day that week.
