| Transitions- when a cut isn't enough | |
Transitions are a wonderf way to connect two clips that are too similar. If you just put them together the image will appear to jump, hence the term "jump cut" in film making.
Move the scrubber so that both clips show in the video track of you movie. This can be in either Clips view or in timeline view as shown above. SELECT the transition you wish to use and simply drag it between the two clips. They will move out of the way.
A process called RENDERING will occur. This takes a little time so be patient. While the rendering is happening a red bar will appear under the transition clip tp sjpw the progress.
WARNING!!!!! If the clips you are trying to connect with a transition are too short or too near the beginning or end of your movie the transition will not be inserted and you will see an error message. TIMING adjustment might fix that. Adjust the speed and thereby the length or duration of the transition.
Some transitions will go faster than others so if one doesn't work, try another. If you don't like a transition, just take the transition clip and drag it to the trash and start over. So now that you've got your movie put together, let's give credit where credit is due and continue on to 7. TITLES |
